Agreement

By creating an account or using Hoemstead, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the platform. These terms form a binding agreement between you and Hoemstead LLC.

What Hoemstead Is

Hoemstead is a community marketplace for local homesteaders to trade, barter, and sell homegrown produce, seeds, animals, skills, and crafts. We provide the platform — all trades are made directly between users. Hoemstead is not a party to any transaction.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Hoemstead. By creating an account, you confirm you meet this requirement. Users under 18 should have parental permission.

Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You may only have one account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your profile up to date. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Listings and Content

You may only list items you own or have the right to sell or trade. By posting a listing, you confirm that:

• The item is accurately described
• Photos are of the actual item
• You will follow through on agreed trades in good faith
• The item is legal to sell or trade in your jurisdiction

Prohibited Items and Conduct

The following are not allowed on Hoemstead:

• Illegal plants, substances, or animals
• Wildlife or protected species
• Unsafe or mislabeled food products
• Spam, fake listings, or misleading content
• Harassment, hate speech, or threatening behavior toward other users
• Impersonating another person or business
• Using the platform for any commercial or mass-distribution purpose

Trades and Transactions

All trades, exchanges, and cash transactions are made directly between users. Hoemstead does not handle payments, does not guarantee trades, and is not responsible for disputes between users. We encourage you to:

• Meet in safe, public locations
• Bring a friend to in-person meetups
• Inspect items before completing a trade
• Trust your instincts — if something feels off, don't proceed

Animals

Hoemstead may allow listings for backyard animals (chickens, ducks, rabbits, goats, etc.). Users are responsible for complying with all local ordinances, health regulations, and humane treatment laws regarding animals. Hoemstead assumes no liability for animal transactions.

Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of content you post. By posting on Hoemstead, you grant us a non-exclusive license to display that content on the platform. You may not copy, reproduce, or use Hoemstead's branding, design, or code without written permission.

Disclaimer of Warranties

Hoemstead is provided "as is" without any warranties. We do not guarantee the accuracy of listings, the quality of items traded, or the conduct of users. Use the platform at your own discretion.

Limitation of Liability

Hoemstead LLC is not liable for any damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to disputes between users, property damage, personal injury, or financial loss resulting from trades arranged through the app.

Marketing Communications

By creating an account, you may separately opt in to receive marketing emails and SMS text messages from Hoemstead. These are optional and not required to use the platform. You can manage your preferences at any time from your Account Settings page. SMS subscribers may reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe. Standard message and data rates may apply for SMS. We will not share your contact information with third-party marketers.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Hoemstead after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
