Who We Are

Hoemstead is a community platform that connects local homesteaders, gardeners, and makers to trade, barter, and sell homegrown produce, seeds, animals, skills, and crafts. We are operated by Hoemstead LLC.

What We Collect

Account information: Your email address and username when you create an account.

Profile information: Any optional details you add to your profile, including a bio, profile photo, and what you grow or make.

Location: Your zip code, used only to show listings near you. We never collect your precise GPS location or street address.

Listings: Photos, descriptions, and trade preferences you post publicly on the platform.

Messages: Private messages exchanged between users to arrange trades.

Usage data: Basic analytics about how you use the app (pages visited, features used). We do not sell this data.

How We Use Your Information

To provide and operate the Hoemstead platform
To show you listings near your zip code
To allow other users to find and message you
To send you service-related notifications (e.g. new trade requests)
To send marketing communications if you have opted in (see below)
To improve the app based on how it's used

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Ever.

Marketing Communications

With your explicit consent, we may send you:

Email marketing: Seasonal tips, new features, nearby listing highlights, and community news. You can opt in or out at any time from your Account Settings page.

SMS / text messages: Occasional alerts about nearby listings and local trade activity. Standard message and data rates may apply. You can opt in or out at any time from your Account Settings page, or reply STOP to any text message to unsubscribe immediately.

We will never send marketing messages without your prior consent, and we will not share your phone number or email address with third-party marketers.

Photos and User Content

Photos you upload to listings or your profile are stored securely and displayed publicly on the platform. You retain ownership of any content you post. By posting, you grant Hoemstead a license to display that content on the platform.

In-Person Trades

Hoemstead facilitates connections between neighbors but does not organize, oversee, or take responsibility for in-person trade meetups. All physical exchanges are arranged privately between users. We recommend meeting in public places and bringing a friend.

Data Sharing

We share your data only with:

Supabase — our database and storage provider (data is stored in the US)
Vercel — our hosting provider

We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing us.

Children

Hoemstead is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@hoemstead.com.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify users of significant changes via the app or email.
